It’s “ladies’ night” at The Five And Dime,
It’s revelry, wit and party time.
So I’ll don the frock and slap on the paint,
My nom de plume is Sardonica Saint!
I’m just one of a group of counterfeits,
We put on the glamour, the dress, the glitz.
We may be misfits, we may be flawed,
But treat us right and just applaud!
We’ll give you a show that’s quite sublime,
Enjoy yourself, it’s not a crime!

Wow. Woolworth’s underwent a major change somewhere!
As usual with this kind of club, the joke’s in the name…
Guessing the Five and Dime is the name of a bar. Fantastic name. Great lines…
Thank you Alessa!
And yes, the bar!
What is a counterfeit misfit? Does that mean the real deal? Of course you are.
Not the real McCoy (as in a man in drag) and slightly outside society…?
I’ve been to a “ladies night” such as this one and it was a hoot! Lots of laughs and real talent.
They are great fun, aren’t they?!
I love the play on the name of the bar. Very nice poem
Thank you very much Cathy!
No fair! Darn drag queens look better than me!

Me too Wendy!!
I haven’t had a chance to go to one of these, but I really want to! I have a friend who is a drag queen “in training” and he’s just GORGEOUS. They look super fun. 🙂

They are!
I haven’t been to a ladies’ night for a long, long time…I need to do it again. Your poem brought back some funny memories!
Fabulous!
