Happy

I really do just love this bed,

It’s soft and cosy and very red,

If I close my eyes it’s ‘specially nice,

‘Cause I can dream of catching mice,

That makes me happy, it makes me smile,

So I think I’ll stay here for a little while.

An Unknown Road

11 Saturday Jun 2016

The road stretched into the unknown,

It was foggy, so I felt strangely disconnected,

In odd places, someone had erected

A white picket fence,

But only a yard or two long,

So it ended almost before it began,

It added to the sense of uncertainty,

Yet one thing kept me driving,

The welcoming  pink blossoms

Above my head.

The Gin Bar*

The Gin Bar
This is our bar, and it’s stocked full of gin,

When it comes to boutique ones, where do I begin?

They’re so full of flavour, it gets under your skin!

The distillers are extremely fanatical,

Of every ingredient that’s known as botanical,

To keep up I’d need to take a sabbatical!

This one from Spain has a fruity appeal,

Containing citrus, especially orange peel,

It’s like a fabulous riff on a glockenspiel!

This Scottish one has local ingredients,

I’ll drink it from choice and, yes, expedience,

And it’ll be consumed with delight not obedience!

The one made in London is incredibly pure,

So clear it is blue, almost azure!

Try it, you’ll love it, I’m sure!

A Hug In A Bowl*

This is a nice bowl of comfort food
When life gets you down, or people are rude,

It’s cauliflower cheese in the form of a soup,

To allow you a bit of peace and goodwill to recoup.

It wraps itself round you and gives you a hug,

The best kind of comfort food in a bowl or a mug!

In The Doghouse

I do not deliberately set out to annoy,

Nor do I purposefully try to destroy,

But I’m only a puppy, so most things are a toy,

And munching on biros does bring me joy!

My teeth need to sharpen, so that’s why I chew,

The pen tasted nice, I can’t help that it’s blue,

Besides, I need something that’s canine to do,

It’s not that I’m trying to irritate you.

I’ve a penchant for pens and for firewood,

And anything chewable in the neighbourhood,

But I’m now lying here quietly, trying to be good,

I’m not really naughty, just misunderstood!

Cat-In-A-Box

This is where I like to hide,

In a box, where it’s dark inside.

If there’s one empty, I’ll climb in,

Because I feel quite safe within.

If it’s full, I’ll make a space,

‘Cause it’s a delightful resting place.

For a feline, I suppose it’s orthodox,

That I’m your very own cat-in-the-box!

Moules Frites

How about a nice pot of moules?
I know when I see them, I start to drool,

Accompanied by a bowl of chips,

With aoli and assorted dips…

With cider, fish stock, beer or wine,

Any way will taste divine!

Dog Tired

I’ve been down in the park, with stick and ball,

With my friends it’s a canine free-for-all,

But now I am dog tired!

We love to jump and fly about,

But I always come back when I hear Karen shout,

By then, I’ll be dog tired!

I’ll run and run till I’m fit to burst,

And I’ll have developed a raging thirst,

And be just a little dog tired!

I may be small but I’m energy-packed,

And I’ll keep going until I’m whacked,

Yes, just completely dog tired!

Mogs

We are the sweetest pair of mogs,

Loving, giving, inseparable sprogs,

We tolerate most things, even dogs,

And often go as mad as a bag of frogs,

But we’re happy when we’re together!

Cheese Board

Let’s skip pudding and have some cheese,

That floats my boat, so let’s have some please!

We’ve  even got a board or slate,

On which the cheese will look really great.

A bit of Doux, a bit of Brie,

Some biscuits and a grape or three,

A bit of Yarg would be ideal,

What a way to end a meal!
