I exchanged a 5 bedroom house for a 2 bedroom flat,
And there really is nothing wrong with that,
Except for the fact that I have gathered toot for years,
That now leaves me cold and frankly in tears,
Because I now have to learn the words “ditch” and “divest”,
Or “donate to charity” and ‘just dump the rest…”
In the meantime I’ve learned that my new bed fellow
Has to be a storage unit known as Big Yellow…
The name alone will fill me with dread,
Till my unit is empty, or else I am dead…
I so know this feeling! When I was younger I’d move from place to place frequently, totally free because of a general lack of possessions – then I settled somewhere for seven years straight and that was the beginning of the end, LOL. Now I think once, twice, thrice before I move because I have so much stuff to move with me!! π π
Ah, me! I sympathise! The curse of the unit…
Very true!! π π
Ha! You been plagued by decluttering too?!
I’m just my own worst enemy with all of this…not too good at de-cluttering as it all looks overwhelming ….so I just need bigger garages wherever I go, LOL!! And not for a car!! π π
Us too! We decided to hire a Declutterer! She is worth her weight in gold!
My love for our unit knows no bounds. It is now immortalised in verse. It’s the highlight of Cory Cooks week but to me its just a curse.
I know this! Xx
I love it, an ode to the unit! Of course I completely appreciate the curse aspect of it, but not to worry …a bit more zest and zeal and we’ll dispel the “curse of the unit” very soon. One of the many reasons I love going unit-side π
We know you love going unit side! Thank God for you!
I have one, but it’s blue. I too wrote a post about it, but not in rhyme. Loved your poem.
Well, how do you feel about the big blue?!
