Summer Days

High summer,

Long shadows

Track the trees above them,

And leech across the lawn

Into the water.

The Guitar

At first,

A simple,

Acoustic guitar,

In blue.

Then, an inspired design

Of the sun setting,

And the trees

Leeching perfect shadows

Into still waters

And the city beyond

In silhouette.

The Piano

i found a piano

In a wood

So I dressed for the occasion,

Donned a nice gown,

And sang a few bars

Of Puccini.

Wind Across The Water

09 Saturday May 2015

It was a fine day,

But there was a stiff breeze,

Which scuffled the lake

As the wind crossed the water.

The trees were remarkably still,

Their leaves,

Like meek.red banners

On flagpoles,

And yet the wind

Still blew across the water.

A Snail’s Breadth

i saw a snail

Following an ant

Up a reed,

Which was misshapen,

But more beautiful because of it,

And the two together

Resembled a strange

Musical notation.

The General Election (My Way)

My friends, I’ll tell you straight,

Be wise at the Election,

May 7th, that’s the date,

Be sure to make a good selection!

Manifestos, read them all,

And select the ones that matter,

Assess vows, both big and small,

And reject the idle chatter.
You have a privilege,

To choose a better future,

So approve a superior pledge,

A solution, not a suture.

Make a balanced choice,

With all at your disposal,

Then you can rejoice

That you chose the right proposal.
Yes, there are times, I’m sure you know,

When you feel misgivings grow,

But through it all, when there is doubt,

You commit, and see it out,

Decide, which train you’ll ride,

And do it YOUR way!

“My Way” is a song whose lyrics were written by Paul Anka and it waa set to music based on the French song “Comme d’habitude” composed in 1967 by Claude Francois &  Jacques Revaux. My apologies to all 3 of them!

The Bubble

I saw the world dimly,

Through a bubble.

The colour of the heather

Was diffused,

Knocked back,

Like raindrops on a window,

Yet just as beautiful as

The flower itself.

The Day We Met

The day we met,

In the meadow,

With flowers all around us,

I swear, in that moment,

My world turned technicolour,

From simple black and white.

The Car

The beautiful Citroen was abandoned

In the woods.

Nature encroached

Took over,

Moss grew,

And greened the car,

But could it be any more beautiful?

My strawberry kinda mutated!

Grew lumps and bumps,

Made like a triffid…

But pass me the cream,

I’m still going to eat it.
