The Potala Palace is a beautiful thing,
A building of grandeur to make your heart sing.
A palace and temple, for years it has stood,
This building composed of earth, stone and wood.
The walls look as if they are made of silk,
But their whiteness is due to the use of milk.
This building contains some 10,000 shrines,
And 200,000 statues that Buddhist practice defines.
Yet it’s most valuable scriptures and artworks divine,
We’re lost in the uprising of 1959.

Nice poem! Very well written! Where is that palace?
Thank you Timothy. It is the spiritual home of the Dalai Lama in Tibet..,
Wow, I love the insights into wonderous places that you bring us with your poems.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you Suzanna!
That is a wonder way to learn, and I really enjoy how you present it to us.
Thank you William!
learnt something new about this place. hopefully one day tibetans can leave happily out of their exile
Me too!
How awesome! How old and historic. I don’t know if I could manage all of the stairs with my arthritic right knee but to have the chance to see this would be a trip of a lifetime.
Stunning isn’t it?
