Alexander the Great was an extraordinary man
A scholar, a warrior, no flash in the pan,
By thirty his empire was so incredibly huge,
That even India wasn’t a safe refuge.
Taught by Aristotle, Philip of Macedon’s son,
The fame of this king lives on and on,
As does the fame of his famous horse,
Bucephalus, who was scared of his shadow of course!
He died a month before he reached 33,
One of the greatest soldiers in history.

Wow I didn’t know he died so young, great as always! X
Thank you Bek!
He was incredible. Your poem is a wonderful tribute!!! Thank you
Thank you! He was an extraordinary man wasn’t he?
Another historical winner. A history book written in poetry (yes, I’ve said this before) would be so great for certain children – along with some great illustrations.
I am planning one, I think it’s a great idea!
Interesting about the horse.
Sweet, huh?!
Caro,
I’ve always been fascinated by Alexander the Great. What an amazing fellow, and such a shame that he died so young, as so many intensely productive people do. I love the name of his horse: Bucephalus. I have a young rooster who would wear that name well. Bucephalus.
Then that is what you should call your rooster!
