The little mermaid is a small, iconic, bronze statue,
Sitting on a rock in Copenhagen harbour with an ocean view.
The head of the sculpture’s the dancer, Ellen Price,
But for the nude body, the sculptor’s wife sufficed!
Edvard Eriksen created this work of art,
So Hans Christian Andersen could be taken to heart,
And celebrated as a fairy tale writer, who’s key,
She was paid for by the founder of Carlsberg Brewery…

The original tale of “The Little Mermaid” is such a sad one, far from the happy Disney version!
I agree! Typical Disney!
It bothered me that they moved to statue for a year or two. Lovely poem.
Yes! But she’s back where she belongs!
Nice to meet you from g+.
Likewise!
Amazing, your subjects of poetry!
I kind of write about what pops up for whatever reason…!
Nice pieces – the sculpture and the poem.
Thank you!
