Today, hospital transport took me to the QE*,
To get a date for my surgery.
They quaintly call it the “pre-op”,
Then give you a date to give you the chop.
They test your urine, take your bloods,
Give you an ECG, to ensure your heart scuds.
Then they announce they’ve got a date in June,
Despite the odds, they’re operating soon.
You’ve got to be there by quarter to eight,**
You’re the first to be seen, you might go home that day.
So we are now praying the week after next,
On the 11th, that the surgeon dissects,
Lasers my stone into numerous pieces,
And then I’ll be signed up for the day releases.
So gentle reader, cross your fingers and toes,
That they don’t need to use warheads or worse, torpedoes!

*Heaven help us! Out of the building by 5 in the morning!
Fingers are crossed- hope it goes smoothly for you and you recover very, very quickly!! 🙂
Thanks so much Helen
Marked on my calendar…..will be praying!!!
Thanks ever so much!
A lithotropter is a breeze- it’s the wait that isn’t fun!
…the wait is always the worst…
Ah, so they blast the stone to smithereens. Hope it goes quick and easy then home to rest!
thanks…
I agree with Roy – the wait is awful! I love your poem though, and I bet it was fun to write. Good luck!

Best of luck!! Your poem made it sound so easy. I know it isn’t. But you have lifted everyone’s spirits!!
thanks Carol…
Well at last there is a date, and it will come and pass, it’s just those 48 hour days between now and then that pass so slowly. We all are in your corner wishing you all the best and a swift recovery.
Thanks William
