Today is the day that my sister was born,
She is a mere sixteen months older than me,
She came into this world on a winter’s morn,
She now has access to sun, surf and sea!
We were close growing up ’cause we were close in age,
But she now lives on the opposite side of the world,
But that doesn’t mean that this world’s not her stage,
She’s a shooting star, my darling girl!
She has travelled with and without her husband, Nick,
Dubai, or China, the USA,
Thailand, Taiwan, Botswana, you take your pick,
But they originally met in Jo’burg, SA.
So have the bestest of days today!
May it bring you joy and a ton of champagne!
I will ring you today to check you’re OK,
And next year we do it all over again!
Sweet tribute! Happy birthday to your sister!
Thank you Alessa!
Birthdays, for most, come but once a year,
Some, like Islam, provide no special cheer,
But, given your tradition,
It takes no erudition,
To see that your and your sibling,
Share the cheer the day will bring.
Happy birthday to her!
Thank you Roy!
It’s nice to have sisters growing up, there is so much to share. And it’s extra nice when one can write the Birthday card for the other. Happy birthday to your sister, and may today be a wonderful day for you as well.
Thank you William!
Your sister is blessed indeed to have her sis write her a birthday poem in honor of her birthday! Happy birthday to your sis, and happy day to you, Caro!
Thank you Amy! It is my birthday present, given that she now lives in Australia!
It’s the sadest thing to be separated by distance this way. I know becuase my sisters are in Australia on the other side of the world to England.
That is where my sister lives too!
My two eldest sons are sixteen months apart. They’re very close with one another. Happy birthday to your sister! WRITE ON!
How lovely!
Wow, Caro, your sister sounds like a real go-getter. I feel enriched knowing about her from your poem. Thank you.
Thank you! And yes, she is a cool and great gal!
Once again Caro, very lovely. Aretha once said that sisters are doin’ it for themselves!
Thanks Cairn! Huzzah for Arethra!
Your sister sounds very well traveled! It’s so nice that you can remain close from so far away. Happy birthday to your sister!
Thank you Suerae!
Happy birthday to your sister! My husband also comes from Joburg, SA.
Happy birthday to your sister. My husband is 17 months older than his next oldest brother. They were close for a good part of their lives.
Thank you Alana, on her behalf!
Thanks Patricia!
Happy b’day to your sis then! She sounds like good fun!
She is!
