The matter concerns my birthday,
Which I share with a writer who’s brill!
She’s an author, an artist,
She’s simply the smartest,
I love her and always will.
She wrote of the wonderful Pigling Bland,
Samuel Whiskers and all his tricks,
She wrote them as pieces,
For nephews and nieces,
So big up for the marvellous Beatrix*!
*I was born rather more recently,
Ms Potter? 1866.

How neat and what a great rhyme you have there. Very nice that there is a picture of her!
Thanks Gladys! I DID think it was a particularly lovely picture!
Great idea for a post, i share my birthday with a few celebs, unfortunately being 50, they always seem to be younger than me 🙂
Thankyou Mike! I am relieved to say that Beatrix is a wee bit older than me! 🙂
This is an absolute delight. I adore Ms. Potter. I have Arthur Conan Doyle for company on mine and Naomi Campbell oh well…..
….I clearly adore Ms Potterr too! Am a sucker for La Tiggywinkle!
That is great idea, I love it! I adore Ms Potter too! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks Audrey! She’s the best!
Lovely! And what great company you are in! I share mine with A A Milne (January 18th) – and very happy I am about that!
I am not surprised! i am a Tigger fan too!
Forgot to say Debbie Young – belated Happy Birthday!
Thanks, Caro! It was a”snow day” so no school for my daughter, no office for me, just us home alone… and then a stray cat moved in. An unexpected gift! She’s staying… 🙂
Thanks to The Mariner’s Journal, for liking my poem…
Caro,
How lovely to share your birthday with such an admirable personage! One of my favorite children’s book authors!
Mine too, clearly!
I remember reading Beatrix Potter books when I was a kid, read them to my kids. Still read them myself every once in a while. I’d be ridiculously excited to share a birthday with someone so amazing!
I couldn’t agree with you more!
Beatrix Potter was very special.
If you haven’t seen it, I saw a film about her life called Ms. Potter with Rene Zellweger. Excellent.
Charming poem! Joy
Yes, I did see the film, and thought it excellent. Thanks for reading and liking my poem!
