Ugh, it’s really hot today!,
Blue, blue skies, no welcoming grey!l
Humidity’s up, and it’s here to stay,
Oh for an ice cream cone!
My clothes are simply drenched in sweat,
Oh, what I’d give for a nice cornet,
Or better still, a midday sunset,
Or for an ice cream cone!
So bring me something white or pink,
Something to slurp, something to drink,
Something cold into which I can cheerfully sink,
Oh bring me an ice cream cone!

They just happened to look the other way,
And so I made my great escape,
I can pick flowers for a grand bouquet,
Chase leaves or get into a splendid scrape!
I’ve a hat on my head to keep me warm,
Though I’m wearing a dress I don’t feel the need to conform,
I just want to skip and jump and run,
To graze my knees, to have some fun,
The world’s my oyster, it’s fresh and new,
With myriad wonderful things to do!
So please don’t stop me, I’m on a roll,
Don’t want to go for a peaceful stroll!
I want to race, I want to fly,
Only speed will gratify!
So let me have a jolly jape
And indulge my great escape!

The sun crashes through the doors,
Throwing long shadows,
That, at certain times of day,
Flood the floor with colour.
At others, they just fill the room with light.
Just acquired, my fire house flat,
Will become my own unique backdrop,
To the staging points of my life.
A blank canvas presently,
It will be peopled with my past and present,
To create a harmonious future.

I love it at this time of year,
When this particular flower begins to appear.
I wind a garland around my hat,
It makes me feel like a pussycat.
I love the fragrance, love the smell,
Love the beautiful colour as well.
I feel like I’ve walked on a Hollywood set,
I’d like to get out my clarinet,
And play a lilting, gentle song,
That makes the world just bounce along…
This is my splendid lavender ode,
So let your senses just explode!
