Sailing Home

My journey has been arduous

But I’m sailing home to you

The seas have been rough

Even now they are calm

But I’m sailing home to you

The sun sets slowly

Projecting its light across the water

As I’m sailing home to you

Birds have been my only companions

Journeying home or to pastures new

Their presence gives me succour

As I’m sailing home to you

Fright

I thought I saw something really scary,

It was kind of small  and kind of hairy!

With a pointy nose and big front teeth,

Lord knows what perils lie beneath!

I’m a natural when I’m herding sheep,

I control their movements in my sleep,

Anything murine* fills me with feat,

I’m mouse-allergic, that much is clear.

On Tap

We like our milk warm,

And we like it on tap,

As it comes, straight out of the teat.

In its most natural, purest form,

As a morning snack or nightcap

It makes us feel quite replete.

Apocalyptic

A storm like no other

Apocalyptic

Lightning in columns

Pounding the earth

Clouds bank menacingly

And I half expect

A booming voice-over saying

Global warming

I told you so

This is your punishment

For neglecting

And despoiling this world

The Puddle

Just a large puddle

But it imperfectly reflected

The avenue of trees

 As if a painter had

Painted an exact watercolour

Then dragged the end of his brush

Through it

To create a distorted image
