Gatsby

When I go in the car,

I make the most of the ride,

With my paws on the door,

I can see outside.

I always bark loudly

At things I don’t like,

Two people arguing,

A girl on a trike.

But if I see friends

Both human and dog,

I wag my tail wildly,

It’s my form of dialogue!

The Stand

Everything I now consume

Comes with a sell-by date,

Suppliers seemingly assume

I’m stupid, which I hate.

I CAN decide myself you know

If green bacteria will grow

On the food I have on my shelf,

If not I can only blame myself!

No!

I’ve already given up my dog bed!

Because I’m a compassionate sort,

So I found this alternative bed instead,

It was really my last resort…

You’ve nicked half my food,

You drink out my bowl,

I tell you you’re rude,

You will not steal my soul!

So  no amount of staring from down below,

Will make me give up my perch, I say no, no, no!

There’s four of you and one of me,

But safely out of reach up here you see!

Calico & Me

This is Calico and me,

We have a strange synchronicity,

This is us standing side by side,

Curiosity satisfied,

By watching what’s going on down below,

And wishing we could just up and go!

Content to be in each other’s company,

Because we’re the bestest friends we can be

But we also compete for mummy’s attention,

So that can be a bone of contention!

Calico pushes things from table to floor,

‘Cause she knows I can’t resist a jolly good gnaw,

And so I reduce whatever into rubble,

And then I get into terrible trouble!

Busy!

I’m exceptionally busy, can’t you see?

Engrossed in a tale of diplomacy,

I’m definitely very preoccupied,

This story has me totally mesmerised.

I’m an erudite cat, I like to stay up to date,

So on this occasion my meal can wait!

Rosie and Me

This is a picture of Rosie and me,

We’re as close as two friends can be!

I’m her wing man, she’s my gal,

And what’s more, she’s my very best pal.

If anyone else should come to the door,

I pay them lip service or just ignore,

If Rosie comes in then I’ll leap off the floor,

And wiggle and squiggle, ’cause it’s her I adore!

The Cat Cave

This is the cat cave my ma bought for me,

Because she knows I like peace and privacy,

Here in my cave it’s an ocean of calm,

Here in my cat cave I come to no harm,

My mum sleeps above me, safe in her bed,

And I’m safely sleeping in my cat cave instead.
