A Tangerine Ribbon

When the sun sets,

A certain way,

The light remains,

Although the source of it

Is sloŵly extinguished.

And where the clouds

Bank and congregate,

It is as if someone

Has taken a paintbrush

And lazily dragged

À ribbon of tangerine

Across the sky.

Throw me a stick

And I’ll be your friend

No matter which one you pick

And you’ve no need to bend

I’ll bring it back to you

This I can achieve

‘Cause I’ve learned very young

How to fetch and retrieve

This is a good game

J can play it all day

If I could then I would

So what do you say?

I went for a walk in the snow

It had freshly fallen

There was a squirrel

Trying hard

To dig up

Some morsel of food

To fuel his family

To fend off the weather

And because

The sun was shining brightly

His tail and ear tufts

Seemed to be on fire

Kettle Cat

I found this little kettle,

It’s shiny and its bright,

Ànd because I’m a fèline magpie,

I might take up residence for the night!

I know it’s tight I grant you,

And the fit is somewhat snug,

But I’m as happy as a clam,

‘Cause I’m snug as a bug in a rug!

Friends

It may be against all the usual trends,
But we really are the best of friends.
A JR and a tortoise shell cat,
Have you ever heard the likes of that?
Together we play and eat our meals,
We know instantly how the other one feels,
She’s a beautiful feline, and happy with that,
And me? Well, I’m a dog-shaped cat!

 Montreal

In the tenements in Montreal,

There are no gardens to speak of ar all,

So the outdoors is brought to the balconies,

Foliage, flowers, in  varied degrees.

A riot of colour, from rooftop to porch,

Yellow, red, orange, all bright as a torch.

We celebrate nature, it’s here in the raw,

And our urge to share it is our only flaw.
