Soul Rescue

Look at me! I have survived!
My sense of self has now revived.

Your mental barbs no longer haunt,

I’m free of your every jibe and taunt!

I’ve fought my way out of the soulless dark,

‘Cause your poison no longer makes its mark.

An angel stepped into my ravaged world

And with her aid, my wings unfurled.

With love, with care, she set me free,

She returned me to my sense of me.

My darling, I don’t think you’ll ever know,

Just how your love has let my spirit grow.

You swooped into my heart and rescued me,

You broke the chains, you set me free.

You are my heart, you are my life,

You are my beautiful, gorgeous wife.

I’ve walked along this beach before,

A desolate, barren, rocky shore,

And yet I always return for more.

When my life starts to crash and burn,

It is to THIS place that I return,

As if there’s something I must learn.

I walk along its sandy length

And somehow the journey gives me strength.

I mull over all that’s gone awry,

The wherefores and the why, why, WHY?

And solutions present themselves by and by,

Within an hour or maybe two,

I resolve what it is that I must do,

And then, my love, I return to you.

When my life starts to crash and burn,

It’s to this place that I will return,

It’s as if there’s something I must learn.

Man Vs The Machine

A stark and simple statue

To remind us what tyranny can do..

A memorial in Iserlohn, Germany

To the Victims of Fascism at Poth

This statue symbolises

Man’s vulnerability

In the face of

Implacable hatred

Man against oppression

Man decimated by mania

Man versus the Machine

Contemplation

There is a spot

Down by the river

Where the fence has rotted away

So it looks like the water

Has slowly eroded its foundations

And across the stretch

Of still, calm water

Some wild flowers

Have run a riot

Of joyous yellow

Almost to the water’s edge

It is a great place

To sit and contemplate

The beauty of the world

Change Is For The Better

When you walked into my life it changed,

At a stroke, my world was rearranged,

I didn’t really have a clue,

What it would mean to be loved by you.

You know my faults, you know my strengths,

And you will go to any lengths,

To make me dazzle like a star,

You’re an enabler, that’s what you are,

But more than that, you’re a great support,

You anticipate my every thought.

You really know me, through and through,

What I’ll say or what I’ll do.

My love, it’s you that I adore,

And I will for ever more.

Fireworks

The darkness seemed palpable.

Thick, heavy, constant,

As if painted on with a trowel

In a band across the heavens

Above the jewel-like lights

Of the city.

Then into this world

Crashed a pyrotechnical wizard

Intent on displaying his own

Brand of magic,

And the sky itself

Came alight.

Father Christmas

In Morocco, he’s Black Peter,

In France he’s Pere Noel,

In the USA, he’s Santa Claus,

A name millions of kids know well!

Here he’s Father Christmas,

A welcome guest each year,

Leave him whisky and a mince pie,

To bring him festive cheer!

Beachcombing

When I go to the beach,

It is not for the sea.

Large expanses of water

Don’t inspire me.

It is the short view,

Not the long view.

It is the land,

That falls into the ocean,

That curves in a crescent,

That tumbles into the water,

Effortlessly,

And the beautiful shells

I find there.

And so, my love,

I have forged you in glass,

My favourite shells,

Conch,

Unicorn Horns,

Coral,

Scallop,

Barnacles,

Molluscs,

Horseshoe Crabs,

Starfish

So we can beachcomb together…
