Just old enough
To have developed spots
Dalmatian puppies
One month old
Each one black and white
With its own unique markings
A rough and tumble
Of little warm bodies
In a blissful pile

guitar, music

I learned to play the guitar
From my grandpa
A gipsy flamenco guitarist
It still gives me huge pleasure
So for just a few coins
Dropped into my hat
I busk and share the joy

A cherry,
A heart-shaped stalk
And two ladybirds,
Together,
Inseparable,
Climbing the heights.

rainbow

A rainbow of colour,
Flushed across land and sky.
Green, yellow,
Orange, red,
Pink and indigo…
And a tree,
The one perpendicular,
In an otherwise horizontal sweep
Of technicolour.

Music

Music is in my soul,
My blood,
The very bones of me.
It stirs me to action,
Makes my spirit
Dance for the sheer joy of it.
My guitar captured
That sense of adventure
I get when I strike a chord

Footprints

sand, sea

There were footprints in the sand,
To the water’s edge,
Where they disappeared.
And they intrigued me.
Who had left this trail?
Walked the walk?
Where were they going?
Who did they meet?
All unanswered questions,
From an anonymous friend…

handbags, shoes, shopping

Shopping for handbags,
Shopping for shoes,
My delight never flags,
It’s an indulgence I chose.
The man in the black
Has just bought some serviceable brogues,
The salesman out back
Says that they fit several vogues.
It’s a day like so many,
When I want to buy everything.
Resistance? I’ve not any?
Because shopping is king,

Serious note to self,
To keep my fiction alive,
This latest boxed set of five,
Needs it’s very own shelf!

Simple blue flowers,
Open, inviting,
Each one like a small torch,
Shining its light into the world.
