The Bubble

I saw the world dimly,

Through a bubble.

The colour of the heather

Was diffused,

Knocked back,

Like raindrops on a window,

Yet just as beautiful as

The flower itself.

The Day We Met

The day we met,

In the meadow,

With flowers all around us,

I swear, in that moment,

My world turned technicolour,

From simple black and white.

The Car

The beautiful Citroen was abandoned

In the woods.

Nature encroached

Took over,

Moss grew,

And greened the car,

But could it be any more beautiful?

My strawberry kinda mutated!

Grew lumps and bumps,

Made like a triffid…

But pass me the cream,

I’m still going to eat it.

Strange Fruit

Momma left us to look for food,

And so we climbed the tree,

We thought from here we’d spot her,

Since it’s as far as the eye can see.

But now, of course we’re out of luck,

Because we’re sorta, kinda stuck!

Climbing skills develop as we mature,

But for now, strange fruit we are for sure!

Coming Up For Air

(Fish)

Coming up for air, I met you.

Neither fish nor fowl,

What floats your boat?

(Dog)

I’m canine,

Curious,

And hungry!

If I lie very still,.and don’t say a word,

I can contemplate properly this glorious bird.

He’s a symbol of Christmas with his bib of bright red,

But he’s welcome whenever, well, enough said.

Topsy Turvy World

I have an armchair that suits me just fine,

When reading the news with a nice glass of wine.

I have an excellent lamp, that casts a good light,

So reading’s no issue, no matter what time of night.

And I captured that cat, that was out “to explore”,

And now he’s adorning my very fine floor!

A taxidermist from Kent wanted a plug,

So can I recommend him if you want a nice rug?!

One of those impromptu, impulse buys,

My purchase grew before my eyes,

From tiny kitten to oversize!

Murmuration

At dusk in Autumn, aka Fall,

Dark clouds appear in the sky.

Their movement holds the world in thrall,

As these wheeling, spinning ‘clouds’ go by…..

Up to 10,000 birds, starlings, in close formation,

In a beautiful, elegant aerial dance,

In what is known as a murmuration,

But appears to be storm clouds at first glance…
