Tart Or Pie

In Europe it’s tart,

In the US, it’s pie,

But there oceans apart,

And I’ll tell you why.

A pie has a cover,

And a tart does not,

So if you’re a pastry lover,

You’ll like a pie a lot!

Traffic

Tower Bridge, Tower Bridge,
Stuck in a tedious traffic sandwich.
I love London, it’s a fabulous spot,
But when the roads are busy, then it is not!
Events start to turn just a trifle sour,
When you drive 1 mile and it takes one hour!

A Gentle Day

A gentle, summer’s day,

The sun filtering through

The trees above me

And dappling the water,

Shedding light on the boats

Beached on the other side of the lake,

And I just sit here,

Quietly contemplating,

My life,

The universe,

A little bit of

Everything.

The Road

The road seemed to unfold

Into an uncertain future

Yet anchored in a charted past

Each bend a memory

Each mile a milestone

Marked by small successes

And haunting failures

Both desolate

And beautiful

Tart

Why not have a large slice of tart?

For me it’s both an ending and a very good start!

You see, I have the sweetest tooth,

So this pudding hits the spot forsooth!

You and You

I have always loved the way you laugh,

It is full and rich and I just can’t help joining in.

I love holding you in my arms,

Skin on skin, your body close to mine,

So I can hear the percussion of our heartbeats.

I love you, yes, you, just you.

Champagne

There is something about a glass of champagne,

That makes you want to come back again and again!

It’s fizzy and wizzy, it makes you feel dizzy,

Just with the fun and the joy of it all!

Don’t wait, hesitate, just make it a date,

Crack open a bottle and have a ball!

Chef’s Only

The kitchen is crowded enough you know,

Without spectators to spoil the flow!

We need space to prep, to cook, to plate,

To swear, to sweat, to operate!

So please don’t come back here unless you’re staff,

Then it is cool ’cause we can have a laugh,

Over all that has gone wrong or right,

And how we feel we have fared tonight.

Why, precisely, are you looking at me?

That cushion exploded, I’m not guilty!

The ink on the floor is not the pen that I chewed.

I swear that my antics have been misconstrued.

I didn’t do it, it was that pesky cat!

It wasn’t me, honest, I’ll tell you that flat.
