You’ve e got a good subject,
But you’ll need a good rhyme,
Something imaginative,
Even sublime.
Not getting ît right
Is a serious crime,
So it’ll take skill,
And certainly time!

It is a city that haunts…
The smells,
The sights/sites,
The colour,
The way the wind ruffles the water,
The vaporetti,
The gondola.
The beauty…
From the grandeur of the palazzo,
To the shabby chic
Of the humble dwellings
On the backyard canals…
It is truly a place apart.

The serene one,
Tranquil,
Calm,
Peaceful.
Soulful in the rain,
Dazzling in the sun,
Venice,
At it’s best.

Throw me a stick
And I’ll be your friend
No matter which one you pick
And you’ve no need to bend
I’ll bring it back to you
This I can achieve
‘Cause I’ve learned very young
How to fetch and retrieve
This is a good game
J can play it all day
If I could then I would
So what do you say?

I found this little kettle,
It’s shiny and its bright,
Ànd because I’m a fèline magpie,
I might take up residence for the night!
I know it’s tight I grant you,
And the fit is somewhat snug,
But I’m as happy as a clam,
‘Cause I’m snug as a bug in a rug!

It may be against all the usual trends,
But we really are the best of friends.
A JR and a tortoise shell cat,
Have you ever heard the likes of that?
Together we play and eat our meals,
We know instantly how the other one feels,
She’s a beautiful feline, and happy with that,
And me? Well, I’m a dog-shaped cat!

In the tenements in Montreal,
There are no gardens to speak of ar all,
So the outdoors is brought to the balconies,
Foliage, flowers, in varied degrees.
A riot of colour, from rooftop to porch,
Yellow, red, orange, all bright as a torch.
We celebrate nature, it’s here in the raw,
And our urge to share it is our only flaw.
