I know I have talked about this wonderful blog before, but I could not resist writing something about this beautiful picture! So here is yet another of Seth Johnson’s beautiful photographs. Go find him at Sethsnap on Facebook or WordPress.

I0000Q6ipnY6G8sMHanging there like a ghostly globe in the sky,

Earth’s only natural satellite.

You animate, you electrify,

You’re an uncommon yet beauteous diurnal sight.

Spectral today in a field of bright blue,

You resemble a nibbled round of cheese,

Through each phase you display a different view,

Showing every one of your idiosyncrasies…

IMG_0799I found myself deep in this excellent blog,

Considering surfing in London fog,

Debating the proper use of ‘fait accompli’,

Finding the best Prom dresses at MissesDressy.

Visiting the Japanese garden in Holland Park,

Taking the Victoria Line and seeing some real ‘live art’.

Learning of Hugh Grant’s two kids from a ‘fleeting affair’,

Discovering how to keep more than one plate up in the air.

That drizzle cake (lemon) is good for the soul,

That Beckham in France may well be an own goal.

Go visit this blog and stay there for a tic,

You might find you acquire a wee bit of French chic!

Grow Old With Me

Red_rosesUntil I met you, there wasn’t us,
And love was just another word.
With you I plan, debate, discuss,
With you I’m shaken and I’m stirred.
I look at you and my heart sings,
There’s nothing we don’t do together,
We talk about a thousand things,
There’s no storm we cannot weather.
And yet I will not hold you back,
You know you’re precious but you’re free,
You know I’ll always cut you slack,
‘Cause you chose to grow old with me.

A Spot of Pepper

IMG_4080Some of you know that I love good food,

It lifts my spirits, puts me in a good mood,

So I am delighted to find this new site,

It makes me anticipate my very next bite.

The author’s a culinary student at Leith’s,

She goes to a show, then dines at La Caprice,

She gives us a butchery master class,

Her hols in Ibiza require a full cocktail glass.

Should your salami be peppered or not?

And if you’re thirsty, she’ll spice your hot choc,

On a cookery assignment she makes Guinness bread,

Short of a pudding? Use leftovers instead!

She glamps in the Lake District, stays in a yurt,

Her tiramisu’s a scrumptious dessert.

She reviews favourite restaurants – I’m anxious for more,

Foodies take note! Beat a path to her door!

The Monkey Bellhop

imgres-3The Monkey Bellhop is written by John,
He’s a fan of comedy, ‘specially quick fire,
And he likes the image of a crazy marathon,
Involving a monkey in bellhop attire…
Read his interview with Blog Catalog then go to sleep,
Discover his thoughts at the kitchen sink,
His one-size-fits-all horoscope, read it and weep,
Must you be mad to be US president, what do you think?
He relies on the company of strangers because you don’t need to give them a gift,
Claims he sank a Japanese warship by burping out loud,
You must value loyalty not money, or he’ll give you short shrift,
Thinks dishonest mechanics should be disallowed.
So go to his blog if you want a good laugh,
Or go buy his book with his autograph!

vencSiobhan Daiko Writer was born in Hong Kong,
But now pursues “La Dolce Vita”,
She taught the Welsh language for far too long,
Before relocating to Veneto, where life is far sweeter.
She writes about junks and opium and Chinese ghosts,
She writes of tigers near Causeway Bay,
She writes about Asolo in numerous posts,
She writes about prosecco, Italian ‘champagne’.
She tells of the Bela Vista hotel in Macau,
Pens of the Stanley Civilian Internment Camp,
Of Via Roberto Browning in her home town,
That dragon boat racing gets her rubber stamp.
Go check her out if you’re an Italophile,
Or want to learn more about Hong Kong tradition,
Or drink in some Italian romance for a while,
Just go there entirely of your own volition.

My Sister

UK&America 807 (1)Today is the day that my sister was born,

She is a mere sixteen months older than me,

She came into this world on a winter’s morn,

She now has access to sun, surf and sea!

We were close growing up ’cause we were close in age,

But she now lives on the opposite side of the world,

But that doesn’t mean that this world’s not her stage,

She’s a shooting star, my darling girl!

She has travelled with and without her husband, Nick,

Dubai, or China, the USA,

Thailand, Taiwan, Botswana, you take your pick,

But they originally met in Jo’burg, SA.

So have the bestest of days today!

May it bring you joy and a ton of champagne!

I will ring you today to check you’re OK,

And next year we do it all over again!

neon-love-sign-3Today, I am writing about C.J. Birch,

I suggest that you put this name into ‘search’,

And go and find her on wordpress.com

Or in Canada, although Zimbabwe is where she’s from.

You will find that her artwork brilliantly echoes

Aboriginal ‘dreamtime’, with colourful geckos,

She writes about role-paying and demanding respect,

Of love, and magic and intellect.

She talks about conscience , she writes about love,

Of who’s a delinquent, who is a yob.

She’s a poet, a thinker, a believer in karma,

Truth is her touchstone, freedom her armour.

She writes of the road to Utopia,

I suggest your blog reading begins with her…

Fugitive Fragments

commonssail1-1May I please introduce you to Michael McGuire,

A poet and writer whose reflections inspire.

He talks about iPads and iPhones or his movie day,

He applauds A Movable Feast by Ernest Hemingway.

He’ll write you a limerick, discuss Yahoo,

Considers digital radio, or even Sun Tzu!

On Sundays he chooses to hibernate

‘Cause the rest of the week he has the urge to create…

He’ll post about surfing or maybe Copernicus,

He’s a flightless rooster from genus Scribus Hibernicus!

Go check him out, he writes with flair and panache,

He even writes an ‘e-less’ paragraph!

Urban Wall Art

IMG_0018I have been meaning to cover this blog for some time,

It’s creative perfection – the artwork’s sublime.

The author is one Mr Reinaldo Ferrer,

Former engineer, he’s now an artist of exceptional flair,

Who works from a photo and fashions a stencil,

Then eschews the oil paints, the brush or the pencil,

And takes out cans of spray paint and instead of graffiti,

Creates pictures of substance, they’re graphic, they’re ‘meaty’.

The portraits have depth, they have style, they have class,

It’s like admiring yourself in the looking glass,

And because commissions are done for his fans, for his ‘clique’,

He destroys the stencil post-painting, to ensure they’re unique,

He paints with real passion, with skill, with his “heart”,

He’s brilliant, so go give some real love to Urban Wall Art.
