Feelings

On days like this I come and sit,
And contemplate the world a bit,
And if I’m in a mellow mood,
I play my sax as soul food.
For anyone who’s passing by,
To say hello, to say goodbye.
I wear my feelings on my sleeve,
Whether I celebrate or if I grieve,
And all who listen, a motley crew,
Well, to a man, they feel it too.

Things To Do

Did you know that you and I
Can play polo on camels in Dubai?
Or walk The Great Wall of China, inch by inch,
It would take eighteen months to do it, at a pinch.
Or bunjee jump from Tower Bridge,
160 ft trusting elastic cordage.
Feeling brave? Why not try a yak ski?
A certain proof of your bravery!
How about a jet pack flight?
Travel at speed and a certain height!
How about zorbing down a hill?
I’ve done it myself, it’s quite a thrill!
Why not go volcano boarding last?
Because a possible death is perhaps forecast!

A Love Affair

We’re two gingernuts, who, against the odds,
Outwitted our owners, the skanky sods!
Paprika’s tried to lock her away,
To “keep her apart from that nasty stray.”
But I’ll have you know, Mr. Robert Paul,
My forebears are gentlemen, one and all!
I am no average, standard mog,
I’m digital, not analogue!
You will not part us, our love is strong,
It’s to each other that we belong.
I’ll climb up to your boudoir, like Romeo,
To prove I’m no worthless lothario!
We will be together, through thick and thin,
You’re Elsa to my Lohengrin!

Carrots!

I am no vegetarian, but,
There is nothing like a wondrous glut,
Of this particular veg, homegrown,
From a handful of seed, lovingly sown,
From brightest yellow to deepest red,
They are scrumptious, a veg godhead!
Crunchy, earthy, undeniably sweet,
An organic carrot’s a culinary treat!

Halloween

Ghosts, cadavers, devils, ghouls,
A nasty zombie guest that drools,
They came around and knocked and said,
“Trick or treat, you need to pacify the dead!”
When it comes to this time of year,
All sensible adults tend to disappear,
Lights off in the house and ne’er a sound,
When the trick or treaters come around.
Did you enjoy your Halloween,
When the undead are on the scene?!

Butterfly Nebula

A curious collision
Of particles and dust
From a dying planet,
Adorning our night sky.
Viewed through the Hubble Telescope,
Its wings span several light years,
And it burns at 250,000 degrees Centigrade.
A beautiful butterfly,
Flexing its wings.

We’ve all manner of food, and all of it good,
To tempt you to eat till you drop,
Monkfish and sole, both fillets and whole,
From Veasey’s, the fishmonger shop.
Lamb navarin, a pear Tart Tatin,
A wonderful, scrummy Bourride,
A platter to share, a large fruits de mer,
A quail poached in a locally brewed artisan mead.
Moules Mariniere, Poulet Forestiere,
A souffle to make you go “Ohhh!!”
A rich Tartiflette, a fondue or raclette,
All served in our micro bistro!

If I just draw a simple line or two,
An elegant squiggle,
Then add a touch of colour,
For lips,
And place a flower head and a bud,
Judiciously,
A beautiful ballroom dancer emerges.

On the road to Crowcombe,
The chances are you’ll get delayed.
Either ponies or sheep will be wandering,
Seeing who they can befriend.
These two kept us waiting for quite some time!
Who cares? When you’re watching the world go by.

The Pied Piper

He played his pipe for all to hear,
Animals large and small.
And all who heard him would draw near,
His music would enthral.
His constant companion, a black and white cat.
Would sit at the piper’s feet,
And all who met this pair thought that
Their lives seemed so complete.
