Journey With Brownie

I’m off!
It’s a straight road,
So no risk of losing my way.
I don’t need much,
Just an old friend
As companion,
Brownie, my bear.
Don’t stop us!
We’re on a mission!

Age Of Wonder

I love the Spring
When the world
Reawakens
But I also love
The Fall
I sit amongst
The trees
And wait
For the leaves
To shed
And if I’m lucky
Some drop
In my lap

Walking In The Rain

Walking with my children
In the rain
I wear red against the raging storm
Arabella tries to hold her umbrella
To keep her head dry
But her arms are young
And weak
And her hair gets wet and wild
Little Alex just runs into the rainstorm
Splashes in puddles
And waves at passing birds
We go walking, walking in the rain

Gingko Highway

A still day,
No suspicion of wind,
No soft autumn chill
On the back of my neck
Just a road stretching ahead
Framed by sunshine,
The leaves that have fallen
And the tracks left
By those who have gone before me
A gingko highway
In the fall

Walking

Strolling through the woods
On a summer’s day,
The sun bursts a path through the trees
And pools in light puddles at my feet.
Walking, walking, walking…

First Snow

The first snow has fallen,
Like icing sugar,
Sprinkled over everything.
A fine layer on each branch,
A coating over the grass,
Tread softly,
Your steps will leave a ghostly imprint.

Fall Light

The light shafts
Softly through the trees,
In sheets,
And infuses the water below.
Light is gentle and limpid
At this time of year.

Abandoned House

This house
Was abandoned long ago.
When life here became too hard.
Now it provides shelter
For passing walkers
And the curious.

I’m not pretending life isn’t hard,
But we really love our hometown, Prague.
We’ve hats on our heads and boots on our feet,
And a lantern, both for light and heat.
And best of all, we have each other,
This is my best friend my little brother.

Waiting For A Rainbow

06 Thursday Nov 2014

A gloomy day,
When the clouds bank and threaten,
Steel grey and forbidding,
Precursors of storm.
I will stand on a bench,
And lean forward,
Rest my weight on its back,
Hold an umbrella above my head,
And wait for the skies to relent,
A tiny slice of sun will break through,
Followed by a rainbow…
