If I look into

The mirror surface

Of this puddle

I can be

Anything I choose

She is my rock,

And I am hers,

For every knock, 

For what occurs.

l never hoped 

For love like this,

I merely ‘coped’,

No lasting bliss.

And then this pearl

Walked in my life,

And this gorgeous girl

Became my wife.

We set off early

To get to market

We have bought provisions 

To last a while

We are now returning home

Walking towards the rising sun

We have trained since childhood

To carry these heavy weights

On our heads

Huge packages   

On still heads

On slender shoulders

The lake in autumn,

An eerie place.

 Bare branches,

Stripped of leaves,

Arch gently

Over fog-heavy air,

And still, atmospheric waters.

OHF, a fabulous cat,
A creature of discernment that
Filled our lives with love and joy,
Our beautiful, silver-whiskered boy.
He loved his chicken and his tuna,
And classical music not Fifties crooner.
He’d always give comfort when we felt low,
He’d give some loving, he’d just know.
He knew who he liked and who did not
He’d always lie in the sunny spot.
With Anita you shared some highs lows,
All her triumphs, all her woes.You’ll always be in our heads and hearts,

Orlando you were a cat apart.

There was a man on the beach,

A gentle, kindly man.

He’d an interesting face,

All his life experience

Etched in each line and wrinkle.   

The seagulls wheeled and swooped around his head,

And the bravest of them

Came and fed from his hand.
