Waiting

15 Sunday Nov 2015

It seems like we’ve been waiting here for ages,

Our patience is waning in tiny stages,

All we want is a jolly good walk,

Oh! If only we could talk!

Off white

To a marginally stronger colour

This beautiful

Tender bloom

Has the delicate blush

Of pink

Become The Unknown

A hazy day in Autumn,

When the wind whispers change,

As the leaves turn and shed,

Anything seems possible,

Because there is an air of expectancy,

I feel more alive than normal,

Because my skin tingles

With anticipation,

Yet it is a step into the unknown.

Parasols In Spring

I walked through the park

On a Spring morning

Admiring the cherry blossom

That dripped off the trees
And on impulse
I put up my parasol
To catch the blossoms
That the breeze
Breathed on to it
A Japanese parasol
In the Spring
Adorned with flowers
To celebrate new beginnings

#remembrance day

They say poppies

Are  for remembrance,

And this one,

So thin,

Translucent

Fragile,

Will be worn in my lapel,

Epilogue

To the thousands of lives

Taken, in the Great Wars.

Hidden

If I sit very still,

And close my eyes,

I can stay here until

The need to move might arise.

No one will sense

This predator – me,

I’ll keep up the pretence

That I’m part of the tree.

Passion Recalled

We met at a party,

Our eyes locked,

And the room disappeared.

We both said later,

It was as if we felt

A shiver of recognition,

A punch to the solar plexus.

And now,

If I smell the scent

Of one red rose,

The first gift I received,

It all floods back,

My stomach lurches,

As I recall our first kiss.

The Path

The path

Ran through

A still wood

On one side

Almost all the trees

Had shed their leaves

On the other

They were painted

With the scarlet

Of Autumn

And the silence

Was palpable

A Shared Feast

The birds were quick

To flock and gather,

To share in the

Food offered to them.

Frenzied wings,

Beaks snatching

At proffered hands.

Stomachs expectant,

They all wanted

Their share of the feast

The Break

I live with my mother,

But today I am visiting my father.

I came on the train

From Nice

To this suburb

Of Marseille

I packed only the essentials

Enough clothes

For a long weekend

I brought my teddy bear

And I dressed in

My Sunday best

For travelling

I want to look my best
