Let’s face it, British weather can be erratic,
Changeable, capricious, it’s never static,
It’s warm, it’s bright, it’s fantastically sunny,
Then the clouds roll in – well, it just ain’t funny,
You forgot your umbrella, you’re soaked to the skin,
You start envying the life of the bedouin…
We may have flash floods, ’cause it rains so much,
But we don’t have major earthquakes, tornadoes and such.
We may grind to a halt ’cause we are feet-deep in snow,
Or our train service stops: leaves on the line, don’t you know!
Did you know that a Brit spends 6 months of their life on this earth,
Discussing the weather? So for God’s sake give it a very wide berth!
Weather-forecasting’s a subject to which we’re genetically predisposed,
So for the sake of your health, keep the subject resolutely closed!
Brilliant! You’d think we’d be sick of talking about the weather by now, but we just can’t seem to stop. I love this 🙂
Thanks, Rebecca….I think we must be genetically predisposed!
Maybe it’s because you find nothing else worth discussing!
Now, now Roy! I think I do pretty well talking about something other than cirrus or cumulo nimbus!
Brilliant. We are prone to rapid weather changes on the coast during the summer. A common phrase is “If you don’t like the weather, then just wait 20 minutes”.
Lol! We are more like wait most of the day!
We say that in Texas, too, but it’s wait 15 minutes. LOL
Ha! The weather…,!
I can’t. I just can’t. Talking of the weather is my fallback plan over here. It is a nice way to start a conversation when I don’t have anything to say. Sad but true!
Lol! Well, chances are it’s going to be sunny at least!
Good. Something to talk about for the next few days…
Good luck!
Last night we had such a storm. My dogs woke me up. Then they had to go out in it. I ate a honey and seseme seed sticks sandwich, read it was going to flood and went back to sleep. It didn’t flood at my house, but . . . We have drought or floods. 🙂
Ah! Feast or famine!
