This took me back to the movie Harold and Maude! Love that film and that little machine Maude had that recreated iconic scents. You must have one of those magic machines 🙂
Senses, I think the sense of smell is the most evocative for me. I remember about 3 years after my father died that a chap in our office walked into my office to ask me something and after about five minutes I burst into tears, because he was wearing the same aftershave as my pa used to wear. After a time I would walk over to his desk and see the bottle on his desk and ask if I could smell it. ( he knew why) See after the initial shock it was so comforting to me when I felt tired or stressed. I feel the same when I smell marmite. That’s a whole new level of weirdness tho. Fabulous post. AGAIN. Thank you xx
Caroness, Lovely article! So peaceful and brought in my imagination instantly. I in particular love the sounds! wonderful job of bringing in the senses of the mind! Great post!
I love the feel of silk, the sight of mountains, the sound of music, the taste of chocolate, the smell of lavender and above all I love Spirit who is all of these.
Funny so many are commenting on smell here. I think it’s a sense we don’t often notice. One smell I really enjoy (and it’s a feel too – you can almost taste it) is the air on a crisp country morning. There’s something so invigorating about waking up, opening a window and taking in the sensations of a a brisk, clean dawn.
I love the smell of newly mowed grass. I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee (if only coffee tasted as good as it smelled) and certain smells bring back memories of childhood. The special smell of the city after a rainfall in April….the smells of supper cooking in the halls of my childhood apartment house in the Bronx. Yes, I think all of us are onto something here.
Great ideas! I particularly like the smell section – spot on for me!
Thank you! Glad it evoked some memories!
You are right! Smell is one of the key links to memory….

It would be truly wonderful if I did!
Thank you. This kind of blog/writing is not something I usually see. Thank you for sharing a different way of viewing – just for a moment. 🙂
